Microsoft launched a preview of its MAI-Image-2.7-Preview image editing tool, which currently ranks No. 2 on the AA-Image-Editing v2.1 leaderboard behind OpenAI's GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst. The model outperforms systems from Meta, Google, and xAI, leads in four of seven editing categories, and shows a 57 Elo gain over MAI-Image-2.6 in composition and framing. It is available in the MAI Playground, with text-to-image features planned for a later date.
