After GMO Internet rejected a $50 million ransom demand, hackers began leaking stolen internal records and customer data online following the Oct. 27 deadline. The breach, which may have affected 26,739 servers, was attributed to the misuse of an autonomous AI penetration-testing tool called ARTEX, and prompted an emergency cybersecurity meeting by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
