Tesla aims to produce 1 million Optimus robots annually by late 2027, with CEO Elon Musk stating the company plans to scale output to approximately 20,000 units per week within the next 12 months. Most of the capacity for 1 million units of annual production has been installed at Tesla's Fremont plant, though Musk described the initial growth phase as a "shallow slope" of an S curve. Deliveries to customers outside of Tesla are forecast to begin in late 2027, following the recent start of production-quality Optimus output on high-volume lines in California. Tesla is also constructing a second dedicated robotics facility in Texas to support future expansion.
