U.S. District Judge Rita Lin vacated a "Supply Chain Risk" designation the Pentagon applied to Anthropic, ruling the blacklisting was illegal and baseless. The court found the action constituted unlawful retaliation in violation of the First Amendment, an arbitrary Administrative Procedure Act action, and a denial of Fifth Amendment due process.

Anthropic is pursuing a second lawsuit in Washington, D.C., regarding a separate Pentagon designation. That remaining action could affect the AI developer's access to civilian government contracts.
