OpenAI Taps Cathedral Systems to Harden Security and Increases Max Bug Bounties

The creator of ChatGPT is collaborating with cybersecurity startup Cathedral Systems to identify and fix weaknesses in its internal infrastructure using AI models. The partnership involves a security sprint where researchers from Cathedral Systems will work alongside OpenAI teams to challenge the company's existing defenses against potential attacks.

Alongside the partnership, OpenAI increased its bug bounty payouts for critical vulnerabilities, noting that rewards for some exceptional findings can now reach $172,000 including bonuses. Cathedral Systems was founded by former staffers of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and was recently linked to a security breach of the Slack workspace at rival AI lab Anthropic.
