Elon Musk is directing his aerospace and energy ventures to dramatically increase their combined manufacturing of photovoltaic modules. SpaceX and Tesla are aiming for an annual solar production of 200 gigawatts, a target that represents approximately three times the current total module capacity of the United States.

The strategy is designed to vertically integrate the power infrastructure required for artificial intelligence operating both on Earth and in orbit. By controlling the energy generation process, Musk aims to secure the power stack necessary for the massive compute requirements of his company's AI ecosystem.
