UK Government to Add £120M in Funding for National AI Biosecurity Lab

The UK government plans to allocate an additional £120 million ($160 million) to the AI Biosecurity Lab to enhance detection and mitigation of biological threats potentially accelerated by frontier AI. The lab, launched with £100 million as part of a £165 million biosecurity initiative, operates with Google DeepMind, OpenAI, and Anthropic, which have contributed £200 million in AI model credits.
