Amazon Will Begin Selling Trainium AI Chips Outside AWS in Late 2027

Amazon will begin selling its customized Trainium AI chips outside of AWS starting in late 2027, making the hardware available for direct purchase by external buyers. CEO Andy Jassy said the move is intended to establish a substantial new business line by selling the artificial intelligence chips outside of Amazon Web Services. Jassy noted that while external sales provide immediate revenue, the chips produce higher total revenue and free cash flow when used internally over a 5 to 6 year period.
