The AI lab agreed to a computing arrangement to expand its processing power through an Nvidia-backed cloud provider, a person familiar with the matter said. The $35B deal with Lambda involves renting GPUs at a data center in Nueces County, Texas. Nvidia holds the underlying lease for the facility from developer Hut 8 and will supply the hardware, allowing Lambda to provide compute capacity without procuring the space itself.
The contract follows a separate $45B agreement Anthropic signed earlier this month with Nscale for Nvidia capacity in West Virginia. The Texas campus, known as Beacon Point, features 700 MW of contracted IT capacity under 15 year leases. Hut 8 is building the site to support both Nvidia GPUs and Google TPUs.
