Rome-based Exein closed an oversubscribed funding round led by Headline to provide embedded security for physical AI systems. The cybersecurity startup targets industrial automation, automotive, energy and robotics, deploying technology that runs across more than 2 billion connected devices. Investors including Goldman Sachs, Sofina, the European Investment Bank, KfW Capital and T Capital joined existing backers such as Lakestar and Supernova Invest.

The company claims it is Europe's most valuable cybersecurity startup after its valuation rose 30 fold in two years. First half 2026 annual recurring revenue reached four times the year earlier level, supporting the latest investment. Exein is expanding operations into San Francisco to grow its global presence in the physical AI security market.
