Google Integrates Flipkart Checkout to Make Gemini a Commerce Layer

Select users in India can now purchase products from Flipkart directly within Gemini and AI Mode by tapping a 'Buy' button. This integration allows consumers to enter a shopping checkout flow and complete transactions without exiting Google's AI interface, moving the purchase process entirely into the chatbot.

Google will expand the checkout feature to more users later in October. The move positions Gemini as a transaction layer for e-commerce, shifting the AI's role from a search and discovery tool to a direct front door for digital commerce.
