ChatGPT account holders can now utilize the expanded memory capacity for the GPT-5.6 Sol model within Codex. The 1 million token context window, which was previously reserved for users with API keys, is now available for standard accounts following a configuration update to the system.
Tokens exceeding the default context limit consume usage limits at 2x the standard rate for any volume above 272k. Developers cautioned that the standard window remains optimized for cost and performance, though they integrated autocompaction research to maintain functionality at the 1 million token limit.
