HSBC and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China led a group of lenders in providing a new credit facility to the owner of TikTok. The $29.6 billion loan is sourced from a syndicate of 28 banks to support the artificial intelligence initiatives of ByteDance.

The funding is designated for the scaling of AI infrastructure and the creation of new technical tools. This financing package allows ByteDance to advance its AI expansion through a loan agreement involving more than two dozen global financial institutions.
