Nvidia Backs 8 GW OpenAI Ohio Campus with $105 Billion to Lock in $600 Billion Revenue Pipeline
Infra46d agoOpenAI signed a 20 year lease with SB Energy for the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Pike County, Ohio, designating Nvidia as the sole provider of all hardware and compute infrastructure. To support the 8 GW site, Nvidia is providing a credit backstop for the initial 4.25 GW buildout capped at $105 billion and making a $1.5 billion equity investment into SB Energy. SB Energy will build and operate the facility, while OpenAI will start payments only when completed capacity arrives.
The arrangement secures land, power and shell capacity for OpenAI, whose growth is constrained by the availability of compute and investment grade financing. Total OpenAI commitments across multiple sites now represent approximately $600 billion in Nvidia compute through 2030. The Ohio project is expected to create 35,000 construction jobs and 2,500 long term operating jobs, with the first 800 MW arriving in 2028.
