A new policy from the country's peak music trade group removes songs created by artificial intelligence from eligibility for ranking this week. The decision follows controversy after an Australian DJ's AI cover of Madonna's ‘Like a Prayer’ topped official charts.

Industry representatives said the ban is intended to protect the human nature of artistry and the livelihoods of creators threatened by generative technology. The exclusion applies specifically to tracks wholly generated by AI to ensure human performance remains the primary metric for chart success.
