US public pension funds in several states and cities hold indirect stakes in Anthropic through venture firm Spark Capital, which may benefit from a projected $1.5T IPO in November. An analysis by The Information found that funds for Orange County, Los Angeles, Massachusetts and South Carolina are exposed to the AI startup via Spark Capital's roughly $777M investment, which could increase to $9B or more if the IPO proceeds.
