Investment from venture capital firm a16z and other partners provided $47 million to AI sales startup Lightfield to scale a CRM platform that automates record updates. More than 5,000 businesses have used the software since its launch last November, utilizing tools for pipeline generation, meeting summaries, and automatic follow-ups based on customer calls and emails. The system builds a customer model from interactions in minutes without requiring manual configuration.

This venture represents a strategic pivot by CEO Keith Peiris from the presentation tool Tome toward a "business world model" meant to predict actions. Lightfield provides API, MCP, and CLI access to its records to facilitate agentic workflows, targeting mature organizations that currently rely on legacy CRM databases. The funding will support the startup's effort to remove the "handoff problem" by keeping customer context updated across different automated agents.
