Apollo and Blackstone are in talks to provide financing that would enable Anthropic and other AI developers to acquire high-end chips and infrastructure. Broadcom is negotiating a debt package potentially reaching nearly $100B, consisting of $60B to $70B in senior secured debt and $30B in junior debt. The chipmaker is also discussing guaranteeing a portion of the senior-secured tranche to facilitate the deal.
The arrangement could be executed in stages and utilizes a special-purpose vehicle to issue the debt. The plan mirrors a previous $35B agreement that launched the group’s AI XPV partnership.
