Tesla informed employees that it is preparing for a public debut of the Cybercab in Austin to begin the rollout of its autonomous ride hailing service. The launch is planned for as soon as August and will introduce the company's first vehicle designed without a steering wheel or brake pedal.

The company began production of the two seat robotaxi in Texas last month and is currently training local first responders for the rollout. Initial deployment will consist of employee rides on public roads before the vehicles are added to the Austin Robotaxi service several days later.
