Waymo Wins CPUC Approval to Expand Robotaxis to 18 California Counties Including San Diego

The California Public Utilities Commission granted the company permission to scale its autonomous ride hailing footprint across the SF Bay Area and Los Angeles. This approval allows Waymo to move into new markets including San Diego and Sacramento as part of a broader rollout covering 18 counties.

Waymo’s expansion will proceed gradually under a safety framework. The company will coordinate with local residents and government officials to manage the rollout as the service becomes available in additional communities.
