Một dự luật liên bang mới nhằm ngăn chặn việc tạo tự động các dấu chấn thép số cho hàng triệu người lái xe Mỹ bằng cách thu hẹp phạm vi mạng lưới biển số xe. Sen Josh Hawley đưa ra Đạo luật STOP Flock Abuse vào ngày 30 tháng 9 để kiềm chế giám sát AI-enhanced và bảo vệ công dân khỏi việc theo dõi trái phép.
Luật mới này phản hồi trước những báo cáo rộng rãi về lạm dụng, bao gồm cáo buộc năm sĩ quan cảnh sát Indianapolis theo dõi bạn tình, trong đó một sĩ quan cúng tìm kiếm hơn 1.000 biển số.
Các lỗ hổng khác bao gồm việc bán tài khoản law enforcement bởi các nhà cung cấp dark web Nga và những vụ bắt giữ sai lầm khiến một cựu binh sĩ Lục quân phải ngồi tù 30 ngày và một phụ nữ khác 13 ngày.
Trước những lo ngại này, Boston đã tắt camera và một thẩm phán ở Arizona đã hủy hợp đồng của quận với công ty Flock.
