Lead times for high-capacitance multilayer ceramic capacitors from Samsung Electro-Mechanics have reached 40 weeks for components used in artificial intelligence servers. This divergence from standard products, which maintain delivery windows of 14 to 18 weeks, signals a critical supply level for server-grade components from Samsung and Murata. Major manufacturers are leveraging this imbalance to raise prices on high-value products and secure longer-term supply agreements to increase profitability.

AI servers require five to 13 times more high-capacitance, compact MLCCs than conventional servers for filtering and power-delivery-network decoupling. New capacity expansions pushed from the fourth quarter of 2026 into 2027 limit the ability of suppliers to resolve the supply-demand imbalance in the near term. Murata is currently cutting prices for low-end components to maintain market share against Chinese and Taiwanese competitors while hiking costs for high-end specifications.
