The Munich-based carmaker is slimming down its corporate hierarchy to lower overall spending by the end of next year. BMW will eliminate approximately 20% of its management workforce using artificial intelligence to identify redundancies and facilitate the removals.
The initiative to accelerate cost-cutting has already resulted in the removal of more than 100 manager positions. In total, about 8,000 roles will be cut as the company transitions to more automated oversight of its operational processes.
