Users can now run autonomous software on Windows hardware to automate recurring work and interact with resident files. This capability is provided by a tool called Portable Computer, which is now compatible with the Ryzen AI Max Series processors from AMD, enabling AI agents to operate with connected apps and data directly on the user's device.
The system runs both the agent harness and the underlying AI model locally to process tasks without needing external servers. If a specific task requires more advanced reasoning or research beyond the on-device capacity, the software requests user permission to tap into a cloud model for assistance.
