Taiwan semiconductor makers, supply chain partners, and AI server firms committed an additional $20 billion to build facilities in the United States. The new spending raises the total announced investment for 2026 to $55 billion, building on $35 billion previously pledged by a group of Taiwanese chip companies.

Officials at SEMICON Taipei said domestic capacity in Taiwan continues to grow, meaning the U.S. expansions are supplemental rather than replacements. The investment push is driven by rising artificial intelligence demand and a drive from Washington to secure local production of leading edge wafers and server racks.
