Anthropic updated the runtime for its command line coding tool to prioritize system cleanup during idle periods. The change results in 2x less CPU usage at p99 for Claude Code CLI, stopping the Bun garbage collector from interrupting the process mid turn when the agent is most active.
The optimization is part of a broader set of quality of life improvements for the developer interface. Anthropic indicated further performance updates are planned to reduce overhead for AI coding workloads.
