The AI startup has contracted at least 14.8 gigawatts of new compute capacity since October in deals estimated by The Information to cost as much as $517 billion over a decade. Financing for the infrastructure is partially provided by suppliers, including a compute commitment exceeding $100B and $5B in new investment from Amazon. Microsoft and Nvidia committed $5B and $10B respectively, with Anthropic agreeing to purchase $30B in Azure capacity.
Anthropic's annualized revenue has passed $65B, surpassing OpenAI's reported $40B run rate. Despite the revenue lead, OpenAI claims to have roughly double the planned compute capacity of Anthropic, which currently utilizes AWS Trainium, Google TPUs, and Nvidia hardware. The company plans to integrate 2 GW of AMD systems starting in 2027 to its compute stack.
