The semiconductor manufacturer will build a long-horizon research institution specializing in chip packaging and next-generation semiconductor manufacturing. Micron Research Labs will receive $10 billion over the next decade in Boise, Idaho, to develop memory and compute breakthroughs for the AI era by uniting academia, government, startups and industry.

Groundbreaking begins in 2027 for the flagship facility, which is designed to accommodate hundreds of researchers. This investment is separate from the more than $250 billion Micron has already allocated for advanced memory manufacturing and research and development across the U.S.
