A Russian drone strike on a gas station in Zaporizhzhia revealed the use of an onboard minicomputer sold commercially by Nvidia. Ukrainian intelligence recovered the hardware from the wreckage, reporting that three people were killed after the fully autonomous weapon malfunctioned. Officials claim the Jetson AI computers allow drones to identify and strike targets without human confirmation and discovered similar systems in S-71M Monochrome missiles currently being tested in Ukraine.
Nvidia stated the Jetson Orin computers are consumer-grade products designed for students and developers rather than military applications. The company noted that the recovered chip's circuit board was stamped "Made in China" and that the line is available in resale markets despite US government restrictions on exports to Russia.
