Greg Abel told CNBC on Wednesday that Berkshire Hathaway Energy sees the artificial intelligence sector as a primary opportunity to drive growth in power and electricity generation. The conglomerate intends to partner with supercomputing firms to support the ongoing computing facility buildout provided these companies maintain strict cost discipline.

The strategy to capture AI power demand faces hurdles from growing resistance to the physical construction of data centers across the U.S. Abel warned that there is "a lot more pushback" to these projects nationwide, although he maintains that the broader integration of AI will help power corporate growth.
