Elon Musk announced that the joint Tesla and SpaceX venture Terafab expects to begin volume production of 'super intelligence' chips in the third or fourth quarter of 2028. The company expects to complete its first working test chip in May or June 2027 at the Research Chip Fab in Giga Texas. Terafab is investing $16.8 billion in a Grimes County, Texas facility with a long-term goal of 1 million wafer starts per month and 3,000 jobs.
