IDG Capital and Gaorong Ventures led a funding round for XPeng's robotics unit with participation from Tencent and Alibaba. The first-time financing raised more than $900 million and valued the business at over $6.3 billion, marking the largest single private financing in China’s embodied AI sector. The investment supports a partial spin-off of the division—which develops humanoid and quadrupedal robots—to accelerate commercialization while the parent company maintains control.
XPeng will use the capital to scale hardware and physical AI models at a dedicated production base in Guangzhou. The company will begin mass production of its IRON humanoid robot by the end of 2026, targeting a monthly output of more than 1,000 units. Initial deployments will focus on reception and retail assistance at XPeng stores and campuses before commercial sales start in China and overseas markets in 2027.
