The creator of ChatGPT saw its business-facing sales grow by more than 100% since July to accelerate AI adoption among corporate clients. This enterprise surge helped push OpenAI's annual recurring revenue to nearly $70 billion, an increase of more than 70% since the start of the third quarter, Axios reported. The company also added more revenue from consumer subscriptions in Q3 alone than it did throughout all of 2025.
The revenue expansion coincides with OpenAI and rival Anthropic preparing for potential initial public offerings. Current data suggest that previous estimates of the startup's recurring revenue, including a $40 billion figure reported by Bloomberg, significantly understated its current run rate.
