Cybersecurity stocks traded lower after Google unveiled Gemini 4 Argon, which it will offer to trusted cyber defenders without its normal cyber guardrails, while Alphabet shares rose 1.5% in premarket trading. OpenAI executives have also said they are building cybersecurity products around GPT-6 Astra.
Argon can autonomously find, validate and patch software vulnerabilities. Google says it also discovered an undisclosed healthcare vulnerability exposing sensitive personal data. Wiz's Gal Nagli called Argon “the best model we used here at Wiz for Web Penetration Testing tasks,” including finding risks in web applications without access to their source code.
Access remains limited to trusted cyber defenders through Google's Fairwind Program and internal teams, with no public release date announced. Google is participating in the US government's voluntary process for model access before release and is gathering tester feedback ahead of broader availability. Even for access without cyber guardrails, Google is deploying safeguards that monitor Argon's reasoning and actions and stop execution when necessary.
