The X Safety team identified a network of inauthentic accounts that used AI-generated cartoons and claims to manipulate debates over American energy and AI policy. Targeted posts suggested that data centers strain the electrical grid and increase household electricity prices, while depicting operators enriching themselves at the public's expense.

The broader bot farm consisted of approximately 200,000 Chinese accounts, many of which posed as Americans to shape data center policies. X suspended the accounts for violating its authenticity policy following an investigation into suspected Chinese influence operations.
