Subscribers to Codex and ChatGPT Work saw their quotas cleared on Friday as the company deployed updates to reduce token consumption. OpenAI stated the fixes will allow paid users to get between 10% and 50% more usage from their existing allowances, depending on individual patterns.
The updates targeted several areas, including image compaction, background memory workers, and goal-setting tools. In some cases, the /goal function consumed up to 70% of a user's weekly allowance by failing to stop at intended conditions. Other fixes addressed redundant computer history summaries and incorrect sub-agent requests.
