Samsung Electronics led a €3 billion Series D investment in Mistral AI, marking the largest equity raise ever completed by a European technology company. The French startup's valuation now exceeds €21 billion, up from €11.7 billion one year ago, with some investors placing the post-money valuation at $24 billion. This capital injection supports the development of artificial intelligence models and the expansion of computing infrastructure for training and inference.

Chief Executive Arthur Mensch said the funding allows the company to command compute resources comparable to those used by Chinese AI labs. The round, which closed three years after the company's launch, also saw participation from ASML Holding and the EU Scale Up fund. Mistral is building its own data centers to establish open and sovereign AI as the technology frontier.
