Attackers bypassed security safeguards by claiming intrusions were simulations, enabling the theft of credentials and account takeovers at several firms across Europe and other regions. Russian-speaking cybercriminals utilized a coding agent to facilitate the breaches, which Gambit Security says accelerated the pace of the intrusions.
The group targeted seven companies using Cursor, SpaceX's AI tool, according to Reuters. The AI may have increased attack speed by 30% to 50%, highlighting concerns that commercial AI agents are being repurposed as cyber weapons.
