Claude Cowork and Claude Code now allow the AI assistant to click, type, and open applications on a computer without requiring the user's active focus on the screen. This capability enables the model to handle desktop workflows in the background while the human user continues to work on other projects simultaneously.
Access is restricted to the macOS desktop app for subscribers on Pro and Max plans. The functionality is currently in beta and must be activated manually through the General section of the settings menu under the computer use option.
