A man convicted of a fatal traffic incident has had his punishment overturned in a legal ruling against the use of synthetic evidence. A judge in Arizona found that an AI generated video, which depicted a deceased road rage victim delivering a message to the killer, was inadmissible and should not have been presented during the sentencing phase.

The decision to toss the original sentence followed a determination that the simulation of a dead person's statement violated evidentiary standards. No new sentencing date has been provided for the defendant following the court's order to vacate the previous term.
