A newly released AI model from OpenAI generated a 4-part chorale in G minor that contained no voice-leading errors. The GPT-6 Astra output utilized a sophisticated harmonic palette including a Neapolitan sixth chord while following a 3/4 time signature, marking the first time a model has written passing tones in this specific evaluation.

The result was produced using an "Extra High effort" prompt requiring the model to write in the style of Bach using LilyPond version 2.24 code. This musical milestone accompanies broader performance gains for Astra, which recorded an Epoch AI capability score of 169 and a 62.7% score on the ARC Prize standard benchmark.
