External investors initiated talks to inject fresh capital into the ChatGPT creator at a price above its previous equity rounds. This potential funding round would value OpenAI at $1.2 trillion, an increase from $852 billion in March, according to the Financial Times. Annualized revenue surpassed $40 billion last month, jumping 20% following the launch of GPT-5.6.
