OpenAI cho rằng tiến bộ nhanh chóng của trí tuệ nhân tạo trong lĩnh vực toán học đang gây rối loạn, đồng thời mong muốn đối thoại sâu hơn với cộng đồng nhà toán học về cách công nghệ này được ứng dụng và cách truyền thông tác động của nó. Sau khi nhận được phản hồi lo ngại từ một số thành viên trong cộng đồng toán học, công ty đã thông báo cho ban tổ chức rằng họ sẽ chấm dứt sự tài trợ cho Mathathon Caltech.
