Internal documents describe a project called Tetromino that uses AI and robotics to automate the final warehouse stop before packages reach drivers. The system incorporates Boxbot technology to handle package storage, sequencing, and vehicle loading, with projections that the new design will process packages at 2.5 times the rate of existing stations.
An early roadmap outlines a $103 million pilot in 2028 and total investments exceeding $530 million by 2029. Amazon says those figures and the proposed rollout timeline are inaccurate and do not reflect its current plans.
