AWS AI infrastructure will be powered by customized silicon from a new multi-generational collaboration between Amazon and Qualcomm. Amazon received warrants for up to 25 million Qualcomm shares priced at $161.26, which vest as it places binding orders for chips, technology, and manufacturing services up to a $60 billion ceiling. The warrants expire in September 2036, with 3.75 million shares vesting immediately based on initial purchase commitments.

The pact covers advanced optical connectivity for data centers, including 1.6T links using Qualcomm SerDes and DSP technology. Qualcomm will also use Amazon Bedrock and other AWS services for chip-design and EDA workloads to shorten development cycles. Qualcomm shares rose nearly 10% following the announcement.
