The updated personal assistant began its English beta release today, integrating personal context from user messages, emails, and photos. This version, known as Siri AI, uses foundation models developed in collaboration with Google and Gemini for users with iPhone 15 Pro or newer devices. On-device models and Private Cloud Compute enable the system to understand onscreen content and execute actions within apps like WhatsApp and Audible.
Regulatory demands block the launch of Siri AI and Apple Intelligence features in China and the European Union. Support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish will be added next month on iOS 27 and related operating systems. Apple will charge a fee for expanded access to server-side AI features that currently have daily usage limits, and the update includes a dedicated Siri app with synced chat history.
