Amazon is in discussions to acquire AI startup Decart for approximately $7 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal. The acquisition follows a collapsed $6 billion bid from Anthropic during due diligence. Decart, which specializes in world and video models, was valued at roughly $4 billion one quarter ago. The company develops software that enables switching between different AI chips, which could help Amazon reduce its reliance on Nvidia and promote its proprietary Trainium chips.
