A pro-AI political organization will no longer receive a promised cash infusion from the leadership of the developer of GPT-4. OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman has backed out of a planned second $25 million contribution to the super PAC Leading the Future, according to the New York Times. While Brockman has already provided an initial $25 million in funding, he told colleagues internally that the political group had become a "distraction" for the company.
The withdrawal comes as AI-related political activity increases ahead of the midterm elections. Leading the Future is designed to influence government policy and support candidates whose platforms favor the advancement of artificial intelligence.
