A federal judge in California ruled Thursday that the Pentagon’s decision to blacklist AI company Anthropic was unlawful. The court blocked the agency from labeling the firm a national-security supply-chain risk, finding the designation violated the First Amendment and denied the company due process under the Fifth Amendment.
The 59 page ruling described the Pentagon's action as "illegal and baseless." The blacklist had restricted Anthropic from certain military contracts and put billions of dollars in business at risk, the company said.
