The owner of TikTok is devoting a large portion of its compute power to a generative AI project that produces spatial video in real time. ByteDance is developing a world model that generates these environments in response to user voices and actions, with plans to announce the system in October using Seedance as the architectural foundation.
The project focuses on applications in virtual environments and robotics to compete directly with Google's Genie, which is currently in closed testing. Founder Zhang Yiming is supervising the development process to challenge existing AI initiatives from Meta and Google.
